Bochum International Regatta
23 Jun
On Thursday morning last week I was up early along with a number of my team mates at Heathrow airport on the way to Germany and my fourth visit to Bochum and the International Ruhrregatta. The event was much smaller this year than it has been in previous years however the level of competition was still high with a number of nation still sending big teams.
Despite this there were a number of great results in from Great Britain team members, Dean Terry won gold in both the Landerkampf K1 1000m and 500m, Tom Simmons and Matt Welsh won gold in the Landerkampf K2 1000m. Katherine Trotter also convinsingly won the Girls International K1 1000m and went on to win gold in the K2 500m with her partner Emily Lewis, to name but a few.
I was pleased with my results also with a Bronze medal in the Landerkampf K4 1000m (Tom Simmons, Mark Childerstone, Matt Welsh and myself) just being beaten by the Polish and 8th in the Landerkampf K1 500m which was a reasonable result considering my previous performances this year.
Overall a good performance by the team, if you’d like to see the full results they can be viewed here.

Cool!
