Shiply’s Response

Hi guys, Hope you are well. I’m certainly alot better than I have been in the last few days. Back at university today and busy catching up with everything and everyone, I think being busy again is making me feel better along with some good sleep.

Anyway today I received an email from Shiply in response to the article I wrote a while ago comparing them to Uship, another company in a similar space. I feel it important to give each party a chance to give their opinion, since Uship have voiced theirs it’s only fair I give Shiply the chance too. So here’s Shiply’s response.

“It is also not our policy to comment on other companies practices, we think that the comments made by an @uship.com email addresses below (allegedly accidentally) speak volumes in itself.

We do not attribute our success to anyone but ourselves and continue to work hard day-to-day ensuring we operate a top-class service, fulfil our own ambitions and business plan which differs greatly from any other competitor (of which there are many).”

I feels this brings the debate about these two companies to a close here. While it may carry on in other areas I don’t plan to be a part of it. I have voiced my opinions on the matter enough and I’m sure your all getting bored of hearing about it.

Tomorrow expect something new and original!

uShip and Shiply Announce Settlement of Their Legal Dispute

LONDON, February 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — uShip, Shiply and Robert Matthams today 24th February 2011 jointly announced a settlement regarding uShip’s claims of trademark and copyright infringement brought in the High Court in London. As part of the settlement, Shiply has agreed to redesign its web site, and pay an amount in compensation to uShip.

“We have already redesigned our website, and have agreed to implement further changes to our logo and other element at issue. We hope that it will remove any chance of association between uShip and Shiply for customers, transporters and the community,” said Mr Matthams, who is Shiply’s managing director.

“uShip.com has been copied by dozens of competitors since we launched our innovative transport marketplace in 2004,” said Matt Chasen, CEO and founder of uShip. “As this litigation shows, we will vigorously defend our intellectual property rights in Europe, the U.S., and other parts of the world.”
